Section 4: Setup > Makes and Models

Makes and Models Overview

In this setup area you may create a list of various makes, models, and categories to standardize the categorical tracking and reporting of items being serviced or repaired. Consistently named makes and models allow for accurate statistical reporting as well as more thorough problem researching.

To open the Makes and Models module, click the  button on the toolbar, select Setup  Makes and Models from the main menu, or press the Shift+F2 key combination.

If the option has been enabled, you will first be prompted with the question: Do you want to extract newly entered makes and models from repair orders? It will be followed by the question: Do you want to extract newly entered makes and models from warranty cards? (See module option “Prompt to extract newly entered Makes and Models” under Setup Module Options.) Click the Yes button to automatically create new records for makes and models that were manually entered in the Make and Model fields on repair order and warranty card records, and that do not already exist in the makes and models table. Click the No button or press the Esc key to ignore each request.

The makes and models setup module may be renamed with a custom caption (see Custom Captions).
